With Beats working in collaboration with HTC for its latest model HTC One X+, a symbol ‘b’ is being embarked on the smart phone. Coincidentally the Windows Phone 8X which was being announced this month earlier has also got the same logo on it.

When you dig deeper into HTC One X+ you will get to know that this device will be running on Android 4.1. This Jelly Bean software has already been a big hit among the masses which can ensure that people will be enthusiastic about this gadget. With 1GB Ram and 32 GB ROM, speed will be guaranteed to you. Motorola ICS Update

Bad news for all those people who were hoping to upgrade their Motorola phones to ICS.  It is very disheartening to hear that Phone Giant will not be updating three of its models – ATRIX 4G, Electrify and photon 4G. These will be the three unlucky sets which will be deprived of the new and latest Ice Cream Sandwich technology. The Company confirmed this news and have made it official through their page which tells about software updates.

Last week Motorola added some information about the software updates related to its android sets on its page. It mentioned that four of its models will be injected with the update which people have been so patiently waiting for. The outlook had been changed by Motorola from Q3 to Android 4 update and it gave some hope by saying that further plans are coming shortly. The phones which were involved in this news were ATRIX 4G, ATRIX 2, Electrify and the Photon 4G.

Samsung galaxy S3 at Risk

The security researchers have found that Samsung Galaxy S3, the best-selling smartphone by Samsung. Galaxy S3 is at a risk of being hacked. It is a vulnerability that can wipe the entire phone’s data in an instant.

Malicious hackers will be able to hide this code in any web page, and the code will be triggered as soon as the user visits that webpage. This code will actually initiate a full factory reset of Galaxy S3. All the contacts, music, pictures, applications and many other important data will be wiped in a matter of two to three seconds.

Galaxy S3 which was revealed this year in the month of May, is the major rival to iPhone 5 introduced recently by Apple. This kind of security break-through is of a major concern for Samsung, who wants to retain the high sales of its best smart phone. Not only Galaxy S3, this code will initiate a factory data reset on Galaxy S2 also, and other devices that use the Samsung’s version of Android. Other versions of Android developed by various firms are not facing this security breach.

A security blogger Paul Olivia, also a Spanish telecommunications engineer was demanding to know what the engineers at Samsung were smoking when such a code was set by them for factory data reset. This code can be used remotely to wipe any Samsung Galaxy S3 device.

How does it work?

This bug in Samsung galaxy S3 was revealed at a computer security conference organised in Argentina. One of the researchers from Berlin, Ravi Borgaonkar demonstrated at the conference the method by which the code can be inserted into the source code of a web page. The code is basically a USSD code which is used by the mobile operators to provide basic services.

If any Galaxy S3 owner surfs a page of this kind, his phone will undergo a restoration to factory settings without notifying or asking permission from the user. The entire restoration process will take just two to three seconds after the launch, and the user is left incapable of doing anything. Mr. Borgaonkar also said that many other codes have been uncovered by him that can be used to perform other attacks. But, he didn’t revealed them as they could be used by criminals. One such code would kill the SIM card.

Many Samsung Galaxy S3 users have attested and confirmed it on twitter that it completely swipes their phone’s data. Some users also said that the code did not execute automatically when they were using Chrome browser by Google which was not the case with the built-in browser.

Mr. Bongaonkar also shared a way to avoid such kind of attacks. It can be done by switching off “service loading” in the settings. And, NFC, QR code apps should be disabled too.

Meanwhile, Samsung also came up with an update patch for the problem after receiving many complaint calls from Galaxy S3 users worldwide. The update can be downloaded easily through the OTA service.

HTC launched its midrange Windows Phone HTC 8S alongside HTC 8X at an event held in New York. HTC 8S is amongst the first two phones which will be using the very latest Windows Phone 8 OS by Microsoft. HTC, a Taiwanese firm, will make these smart phones available in the market from early November.
This phone is aimed to hit the middle range smart phones market competing with phones like Sony Xperia U and LG Optimus. It will be available in vibrant colours which are Limelight Yellow, California Blue, Flame Red, and Graphite Black.

The Design

The design of the HTC 8S is similar to that of Xperia U and One V having a coloured bar-like touchpad at the bottom. The phone’s colour is not the same all along. The back is of a different colour than the base shade which gives it a cool look except for the Flame Red shade.
It will be one of the slimmest smart phones in its range at 10.33mm. Just like HTC 8X, the tapered edges give an illusion of the phone being thinner than it actually is. The device has a sleek finishing with a frame of 120.5 x 63mm.The device weighs 113g which makes it quite handy.
It has a 4 inch screen which acquires most of the space at the front. The coloured touchpad is below the display having Windows, back and search keys and the matching earpiece lies above it.
Unlike, HTC 8X, its memory is expandable. The rear part of the coloured section can be slided off to reveal the inner part having microSD and microSIM slots. The rest of the design is same as HTC 8X, having 3.5mm headphone jack, lock key, volume rocker control, microUSB port and camera shutter button. All the keys are very approachable in this compact device.

Composition

It has a1700mAh battery which is not accessible as in HTC 8X. This might be disappointing for those who like to switch their batteries with a larger one. Still, it is expected that the battery will provide a decent usage period.
The phone is powered with a high-end 1GHz dual-core S4 processor and a Ram of 512mB which should run Windows Phone 8 OS without any upheaval.
