We are going to explain how you can transfer your photos from iCloud to Google Photos. Apple has just launched a new tool that allows you to do pass our data from iCloud to other platforms, including Google Photos. It is a simple process and it will take more or less depending on the number of photos we have in iCloud.
We can carry out this process from the mobile phone or from the web, since the photographs are going to be transferred from one service to another. Once everything is done, we will have our iCloud photos in their same albums, but in Google Photos.
Transferring photos from iCloud to Google Photos
The first thing we have to do is go to Apple’s privacy page, introduced in 2018 on the occasion of the European GDPR. Within this section we will have to click on ‘Request the transfer of a copy of your data’, something that you will find in the section ‘Transfer a copy of your data’. Apple describes this section as the ability to send a copy of your data to another service, a newly released option that allows you to send the photos to Google Photos.
Once we are in this section, it will appear the number of photos and videos we have stored in iCloud, indicating the GB that we have to have free in Google Photos to be able to carry out the migration correctly. If your Google account runs out of space, a full copy of all items will not be made.
The process will take more or less depending on our connection and the volume of data that has to be transferred from one service to another.
If we have enough space, we just have to give it to continue with the process and be patient, since this will take more or less depending on the internet connection that we have and the gigabytes of photos and videos that have to be passed from one platform to another.
Once we have done the process we will have these files in Google Photos. They will appear in their corresponding albums, except for videos, which are transferred individually and separately.
