The Samsung Galaxy S21 has been one of the last terminals to reach the market and a new Xiaomi model is already on the horizon. And while, in the case of the Samsung model, the news continues, like this one that we now see and that relates it to Netflix and the possibility of play content in HDR.
And it is that Netflix has certified the new Korean terminal so that it can play content in HDR. It was something to be expected, since we are facing a terminal with a high quality Dynamic AMOLED HDR10 + screen, but that still required the backing of the platform. A certification that also comes for other models such as the OPPO Reno 4 Pro or the TCL 20 5G.
Netflix in HD with HDR
It should be remembered that with such screen specifications, the Galaxy S21 already supports the playback of HD content from Netflix, but until now ** support for streaming HDRv content was lacking. A certificate that arrives coinciding with the sale of the mobile.
But the Galaxy S21 is not the only novelty, since the platform has added more to the list of devices that support HDR playback along with those that make up the Korean manufacturer’s family consisting of the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21 +, Galaxy S21 Ultra. Along with these three models, the OPPO Reno 4 Pro and the TCL 20 5G are now added.
For a phone to play HDR content it must be Wideline L1 certified, but for it to also be able to stream HDR content on Netflix, must pass a series of additional internal tests by Netflix. In this link you can check if your device offers support to play content in HDR and in this other if it has the ability to play streaming in HD. To this list, Netflix has added a total of nine new models:
- OPPO A73
- OPPO A93
- OPPO F17
- OPPO F17 Pro
- OPPO Reno 4
- OPPO Reno 4 F
- OPPO Reno 4 Lite
- OPPO Reno 4 5G
- OPPO Reno 4 Pro 5G
Remember that to play Netflix content in HDR, it is essential to have version 5.0 of the Netflix application for Android. In addition, the platform establishes a series of additional requirements:
- Have a TV or smartphone that Dolby Vision or HDR10 support and Netflix, connected to your mobile device through an HDMI port HDCP 2.2 or later compliant (usually the HDMI 1 port).
- A contracted plan that supports playback in Ultra HD quality.
- A stable internet connection with a speed equal to or greater than 25 Mbps. You can check yours here.
- Configuration of the streaming quality to High.
