Gif TV is a free application for iOS and Android that invites us to to turn our smartphone into a kind of mini-television which shows (continuously) our favorite GIFs.
It might be a very good idea to bring an old smartphone to life We can give a lively touch to our home with GIFs that we can change at any time.
A mini TV with “channels”
Once we’ve installed it, we’ll need to create an account. Just like in a conventional television, we have the opportunity play different “channels”and one will appear to be created with our username.
It appears at the top, and we’ll have to press the edit button to start adding GIFs. A search engine will appear, based on GIPHYand it is possible to add several GIFS with the same search. When we have finished, we return to the main screen.
Next to the edit button you will find a full screen. If we click on it, the GIFs will start playing in the order we added them. When it finishes, the sequence will play again.
The screen will not lock at any timeso our GIF channel will continue to play automatically until we want it to. By having your own channel, that means that other users can play the one you have created and vice versa.
We also have the option of quickly create a channel based on a specific hashtagand add it to the main screen. This way we will have hundreds of GIFs added almost effortlessly.
In fact, the creators of this app launched a few days ago a campaign at Kickstarter, in which you can buy a small wooden stand which is shaped like a tiny television. That’ll make it look better in our house.
If we prefer, we can always to carry out a small DIY project and make our own stand (for example) with cardboard. If we have a 3D printer, on platforms such as Thingiverse you will find many models to print on and place your smartphone.
